Unlike most of the trails in the motorcycle-friendly Canfield Butte system, Trail 7 is a smooth and rut-free path that offers a blissful descent from the higher elevations of Canfield Butte. Combined with Trail 8, it makes an excellent route from the ridge top down to the trail head.
From I-90 in Coeur d'Alene take 15th street north for 1.0 mile. Turn right (east) onto Nettleton Gulch Road and proceed 2.2 miles until it reaches a gate at the trailhead parking lot. From the trailhead, cycle up Forest Road 1562 for 3.0 miles until Trails 6 and 7 begin on your right.
